What is encaustic and who am I ???
Encaustic painting is an ancient art form The artist uses melted beeswax mixed with Damar resin to strengthen the wax and pigment to colour it. Then this mixture is used to paint on a porous surface.
I have taken this luscious, delectable liquid and created sculpture with it in several unique forms.
These pieces have all been treated with clear gloss lacquer so they will stand up to handling.
Treat these treasures as you would glass or ceramic.
I have been creating with encaustic for several years now and began using the medium in a three dimensional form in May 2017. I am a Métis visual artist live in southern Ontario and create full time in my home studio....I have a lovely commute under a wisteria laden pergola from my home to the studio. Heavenly.

United Nations Commission
In November 2017 I was commissioned by the United Nations to create six sculptures which were used as awards. These awards were given to five recipients of the prestigious Partnership Award which celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol. The sixth award will be on permanent display at the United Nations Environmental Headquarters in Nairobi.
